The ability to overcome adversity and make decisive decisions in a sea of darkness is far more important than your proficiency in creating your product or service.

“En la boca cerrada no entran moscas,” which translates to “Flies don’t go into a closed mouth.” It reminds me to hold back and trust colleagues and clients to figure things out for themselves.

Leave every person you meet, every person you lead, better off than when you met them.

“Serve to lead.” It’s the motto of the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and my first exposure to formal leadership training. It has served me well in my career.
